Saturday 28th September Island SUP Club attended the British SUP Club Championships at Bray Lake Water sports, Maidenhead.
We were the first club in the UK to have a full team entered and on the day 18 members of the club took part (2 members were injured unfortunately).
All members either took part in the main race which for some was 4 laps of the lake (8km) or 2 laps (4km). Several members took part in the novice race which was 1 lap (2km) and we also had 3 juniors in our team who took part in a variety of fun activities across the day. They showed great commitment in the difficult windy conditions.
Once the main events were completed we then took part in a variety of challenges such as 200m sprints, dragon board sprints (22ft long SUP board designed to carry 4 adults) and relays using a variety of different boards.
Island SUP finished 14th overall and we had several individual medals as well in the 12’6″ inflatable and hardboard category and the 14′ hardboard category.
